From a San Francisco apartment and a broken VR setup to one of the most trusted PCVR retailers online — here's the honest story.
2019 — The Breaking Point
A $600 Headset That Wouldn't Connect
Our founder Marcus spent an entire weekend in his Mission District apartment trying to get a high-end VR headset running on his custom PC rig. Three driver reinstalls, two forum rabbit holes, and zero VR later — he knew there had to be a better way to buy into PCVR.
2020 — The Idea Takes Shape
A Spreadsheet Becomes a Resource
What started as Marcus's personal GPU compatibility spreadsheet grew into a shared Google Doc passed around San Francisco's gaming communities on Discord. Within months, thousands of PC gamers were using it to avoid the same headaches he'd experienced.
2022 — VRforPC.com Launches
A Real Store, Built the Right Way
With co-founder Lena — a driver compatibility expert Marcus met at a San Francisco tech meetup — VRforPC.com launched with a curated lineup of 8 headsets. Every listing included GPU-specific setup notes and live support chat. First-month sales exceeded every projection.
2024 — 2,000 Rigs and Counting
The Team Grows, the Mission Stays the Same
We crossed 2,000 orders with a 4.9-star average. Our setup guides now cover 40+ GPU models and are referenced across Reddit, YouTube, and VR Discord communities worldwide. The team grew to 8 people — all based in the Bay Area, all daily VR users.
